"No, I think it might be Risky!" I told Dennis. I opened the bushes a crack, and saw a door! A trapdoor in the ground! "Dennis--take a look at this!" I exclaimed. Dennis came over, and nearly fell over! "A trapdoor! Cool! Let's explore it!" Dennis said eagerly. "Are you sure? What if it's dangerous?" I asked him nervously. "Well, what made it rustle in the wind? Maybe Risky fell down it! We have to find him, you know," Dennis urged. "Well, okay..." I said, biting my lip. Dennis opened the trapdoor and peered down it. Black and dark. "Are you sure we should do this?" I asked. "Of course!" Dennis replied. I looked in, and made out the outline of a stairway. "Okay, let's go," I said. I started down the stairway while Dennis followed. It seemed like hours before we finally reached the bottom. I knew this was ridiculous, but I fumbled along the wall for a lightswitch. I actually found one! I flicked it on, and the whole room flooded with light. It was a science lab! There were chemistry flasks, and test tubes, and sinks, and all sorts of laboratory items! "This is just crazy," I told myself. When I looked at Dennis, he was pouring test tubes into a cup! "Get away from there!" I exclaimed. "It could be dangerous fumbling with those chemicals!" Of course, Dennis ignored me. He took a test tube marked, 'Gasoline' and was about to pour it into the cup full of other chemicals! "No!!" I screamed. I ran to stop him, but I was too late! He poured the gasoline into the cup! I waited for an explosion. Nothing happened. When I opened my eyes, he put a lid on the cup and slipped it into his pocket. "That was close, Dennis! Don't ever do that again! You could really hurt someone! Now dump the cup into a sink!" He zipped up his pocket. "DENNIS!!" I shouted. I pushed him, wrestling him to the floor, when we hit something. I looked up. There were two doors next to each other. We had wrestled all the way to the far end of the room, where there were two doors. "What if Risky is in one of these?" Dennis asked. "You're right," I said. We got up. "Which one should we go in?" Dennis asked. |
